Oscar-winning Casey Affleck (“Manchester By the Sea”), Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix,” “Event Horizon”), and Tomer Capone (“The Boys”) star in this reality-bending film, which is directed by Swedish director Mikael Håfström (“The Rite,” “1408”) from a twisty script written by R. Scott Adams (“Donner Pass”) and Nathan Parker (“Moon”).
“Slingshot,” which was primarily shot in and around Budapest, Hungary, and stars Emily Beecham (“Cruella”) and David Morrissey (“The Colour Room,” “The Walking Dead”), will only be available for theatrical release on August 30, 2024.

The story follows three astronauts aboard the Odyssey 1 spacecraft as they travel 1.5 billion miles to Titan, Saturn’s enigmatic moon. As the team gets ready for a daring slingshot maneuver that will use Jupiter’s gravity to propel them around the gas giant and toward Titan, one astronaut starts experiencing psychotic episodes as a result of the hypersleep medication’s negative effects. His terrifying hallucinations and growing incapacity to comprehend reality clearly start to jeopardize the crew’s safety, the integrity of the ship, and the mission’s ultimate objectives.
“Slingshot” has some amazing production qualities in its spaceship set design, as demonstrated in this behind-the-scenes film, which immerses viewers in the psychological maze of this compromised space trip to Titan. The film’s lead performers, Laurence Fishburne, Casey Affleck, and Tomer Capone, describe what first drew them to the intriguing idea and give a preview of the kind of experience viewers may expect when this surreal film debuts later this month.

“I’ve worked on several science fiction films. ‘The Matrix Trilogy,’ ‘Event Horizon’ ‘Slingshot’ bears similarities to ‘Event Horizon’ in that the ship plays a significant role. The character of this spacecraft is considerably more enigmatic. Our objective is to travel to Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. The plan is to take off from Earth, travel to Jupiter, take use of Jupiter’s gravitational pull, and then launch ourselves even farther into space. It’s what occurs to these three people when they venture further and further into the unknown.”
